Innovative Valve Technology

Bang & Olufsen Medicom are pleased to announce that they have recently published patents on a unique new valve that offers a number of new advantages to pressurised metered dose inhalation. The valve, know as the Forward Metering Valve, works on a rotary basis and as a result, can form the basis of a 100% reliable dose counter. In addition it makes it possible to select the number of multiples of dose per actuation, giving users the possibility of controlling the amount of doses to be taken per inhalation, removing the need for multiple inhalations. It has a low component count and can be incorporated in both breath actuated and conventional 'press and breathe' pMDIs.

Test measurement equipment

In addition to our design and development expertise in the development of new inhalers, B&O Medicom has recently acquired highly sensitive laser testing equipment to test the plume and geometry of inhaler exerted particles. The advanced Oxford Lasers Particle Image Velocimetry equipment coupled with our clean room facilities allow for comprehensive analysis of particle flow performance.
