Copenhagen 13th February 2007. Bang & Olufsen Medicom, an innovative provider of drug delivery solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, will attend the Pharma 07 conference in London on March 7th, 2007. The aim of the conference is to examine the current strategies of the pharmaceutical sector. As part of the conference programme, Bang & Olufsen Medicom will host two interesting workshops under the headline ’Improving patient compliance – saving money, saving lives?’
The interactive workshop will deal with the theme: ‘How to reduce costs in primary and secondary healthcare budgets through the use of innovative patient compliance initiatives.’ Conference participants are invited to participate in the workshops for an interactive discussion around patient compliance issues in the UK. During the workshop attendees will discuss and review published data related to patient compliance consequences including the financial implications and patient quality of life. Also Bang & Olufsen Medicom will give an overview of currently available solutions on the market to tackle the compliance problem.
Anthony Evans and Hans-Erik Gording, International Key Account Managers with Bang & Olufsen Medicom will be present at the workshop. Speaking on behalf of Bang & Olufsen Medicom, Anthony Evans said: “It is our aim that at these workshops we give the attendees an understanding of patient compliance problems and the effects they have on the NHS. We intend to highlight the effects of poor compliance at the workshops and we will discuss the current obstacles to increasing compliance with the workshop attendees. Finally we will provide our recommendations on how to avoid pitfalls in order to ensure success with increasing compliance rates in the future.”
Solutions for increasing patient compliance
It is a fact that on average patients forget every second medication dose*, and it is especially those assigned to long term treatments who discontinue their compliance. Low compliance rates are a costly problem for the pharmaceutical industry. A Datamonitor survey** calculated the costs of patient non-compliance to the pharmaceutical industry to be in the region of $30 billion a year. The workshops organised by Bang & Olufsen Medicom will focus on what solutions the pharmaceutical industry has to address this present issue.
The workshops hosted by Bang & Olufsen Medicom will be held on March 7th, 2007 at the Pharma 07 Conference in the Barbican Conference Centre in London, UK. Bang & Olufsen Medicom will also be present at a congress booth during the day where those who have an interest in hearing more about our products and solutions are welcome to drop by.
