Patients’ acceptance of the Helping Hand

A recent survey published in the Journal of Medical Marketing shows that patients assess the Helping Hand, an intelligent tablet reminder device from B&O Medicom, positively. The survey involved more than 400 respondents and concluded that the overall assessment of the device’s functions, its usefulness and design were very positive – as less than 4% had reservations with regards to the device.

The reminder feature was evaluated as acceptable by 30% and excellent by 56% of the patients, while the feed back feature was evaluated as acceptable by 31% and excellent by 47% of the patients. The survey shows that an attractive design and an easy to understand functionality, as the Helping Hand offers, are crucial for new medical devices. The Helping Hand reminds and guides patients in their medication taking routines and offers a short cut to improved compliance rates.

In addition to its commercial collaborations with a number of pharma companies B&O Medicom is also co-sponsoring a number of patient compliance related clinical trials and PMS studies in the field of hypertension and transplantation with the first interim results awaited by the end of 2007.
