New CEO appointed

B&O Medicom, Struer, Denmark, June 1 2010

Henrik Kagenow has resigned from his post as CEO of Bang & Olufsen Medicom a/s 1st June by mutual agreement, and Erik Trock-Jansen has been appointed as the new CEO of Bang & Olufsen Medicom a/s 1st June.

As chairman of the board I would like to take this opportunity to thank Henrik for his great contribution to the company over the years. Henrik started in Bang & Olufsen Technology 12 years ago and helped to establish Medicom as an independent company in 2000. Today we have a strong position in drug delivery devices and a leading position in digital electronic stethoscopes. This is very much Henrik’s accomplishment.

In future we will be even more focused on operating as a consulting and development company within drug delivery device development, while expanding our position as a one stop shop for our customers. Furthermore, we need to have an even stronger focus on the commercialization of our services. This is the background for the management change today.

Erik Trock-Jansen comes to Bang & Olufsen Medicom a/s with more than 20 years of international experience in business development and start-ups in Asia. Among others, Erik has worked for EAC, McKinsey & Co., Novartis, DKSH and later in Denmark with Tytex in Ikast.

In connection with the change I wish to again thank Henrik for his work with Medicom. Henrik will be working with special projects and assignments during a transitional period. At the same time, I would like to welcome Erik.

The LEVA® autoinjector from Bang & Olufsen Medicom wins ’2009 GOOD DESIGN™ Award’

B&O Medicom, Struer, Denmark, January 14 2010:

Designed and developed in Denmark and aimed at patients globally. The innovative and user friendly LEVA® autoinjector has received the prestigious design award ’GOOD DESIGN’.

The Chicago Athenaeum founded the GOOD DESIGN program in 1950 and today it is one of the most recognized programs for design excellence worldwide. Early participants were formable designers including Eero Saarinen, and Charles and Ray Eames.

Every year the program sees a large number of entries from around the world. This year submitted designs ranged from manned Mars exploration vehicles to clean water filtering systems. 500 designs from 35 countries received the attractive GOOD DESIGN Award for design distinction. The LEVA® auto injector was one of them.

’We are proud of this recognition of our constant strive for making drug delivery devices that are intuitive, user friendly and less stigmatizing for the patient. Patient research shows this as key to getting the optimal outcome of medical treatment’, says Peter W. Ravn who is in charge of sales and marketing with B&O Medicom. ’A well designed device, developed around patient needs has a lot of importance when it comes to injectable drugs. Patient acceptance of treatment is closely related to understanding his/her role. An easy-to-use device thus allows for home treatment which in addition lowers cost to society. This is our speciality - understanding and involving the patient and other key stakeholders when we innovate’ continues Peter W. Ravn.

LEVA® is developed with and for the patient suffering from chronic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Modern, biologic drugs for home usage are often part of the treatment for these patients. B&O Medicom is working with a number of leading pharmaceutical companies to bring LEVA® to the patient.

B&O Medicom, Struer, Denmark, March 25 2009:  B&O Medicom has entered a 3 year collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company to develop a next generation inhaler platform. The new platform will be leading edge when it comes to user friendliness and it will enable a safe and easy inhalation of drugs targeting asthma and COPD.
